The Chapel Guardian hope that this post can be the last for some time, if not for good. The contributors to this blog had sought one thing above all else: a counterbalance to the negativity and overwhelming animosity expressed by so many of the Friends of Chapel group. To that end, the Chapel Guardian reserve the right to post again in the future.
However ...
The Chapel Guardian consider this book (or chapter, depending on what happens from now) closed. Chapel Guardian acknowledge that both sides acted in ways they thought were right at the time, and that it was seen as a good fight worth waging. We also acknowledge that not everyone on the Friends of Chapel side acted with malice. Those who honestly felt they had been wronged last fall worked quietly and civilly, even in pursuing a lawsuit and mediation. They, unfortunately, have been overshadowed by their louder, vitriolic colleagues.
A new Board of Directors has been voted in. The chairman and first vice chair who did not fit with the new board majority's vision were removed. For some on the new majority, the removals were out of malice. But we realize that might not be true for all of the board members. It is our hope that those voices of reason on the new board will lead with this in mind.
For those among the Friends of Chapel who have shown reason and good will, the Chapel Guardian wish them all the best as they forge ahead.
For those among the group who continue to claim the mantra of "loving kindness" while slinging arrows, however, and do not know when to stop, the following should be kept in mind:
1) Those who are unable to tell the truth, on a scale large or small, are likely not capable of seeing or understanding it.
2) Actions tend to have equal or opposite reactions.
3) Those who act with mean-spirited intent are projecting their inner worlds to the outer world.
4) To quote an enlightened writer in the 1960s: "You may find that having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting."
